28 Apr Self-Care Saturday
Self-care can be anything BUT it does not include work! And it doesn’t matter how close a deadline is; you can’t pour from an empty cup.
Here are some easy things that you can do to help you better focus on yourself and better take fare of your needs:
•Go our for a walk
•dance to your fav. 90s music
•Sit outside with a cup of tea
•Read a good book
•Go sit in a sauna
•Get a massage
Self-care was something that I struggled with – I had a full time job, a part-time job, volunteer initiatives, and other things going on in the mix. And you know what all this did to me? It made me burnout, it made me feel as if I’m not worth any time, and it made me feel that others are more important to me than I am to myself. 💗
Recognizing that I required self-care wasn’t easy. When I was saying YES to everything, I literally thought I was in a happy state of mind. Now, looking back; I realize that I wasn’t. I was saying yes to everything as a way of running away from what I began to believe about myself from a very early age: I wasn’t enough. I had to stop. Then I had to go real deep. It was scary, but I finally realized that I wasn’t happy because I grew up chasing things and trying to control outcomes as a way of feeling better about myself. But now I realize what I needed to practice was self-care.
